The Roy and Patricia Disney Family Foundation

The Roy Disney Family Foundation was established by Roy O. Disney in 1969. Roy’s wife, Edna Disney, his son Roy E., and his wife, Patty Disney were founding members. Successive generations of the family have joined over the last fifty years. It operated as a small family Foundation without formal structure or professional staff until the Foundation received a large bequest following the passing of Patricia Disney in 2012.  It was then renamed The Roy and Patricia Disney Family Foundation (RPDFF), to honor Patricia’s exceptional generosity. Currently, RPDFF retains a staff of 4 full-time employees, and 2 interns. There are 21 eligible Board Members.

The Foundation employs a place-based approach that grants up to $5 million each year through an invitation-only process for nonprofit organizations within the Foundation’s geographic footprint and funding priorities.
